Meet Wenark Green
From a mutual love of reading and writing, sprang an idea to write a series of cosy mysteries set in cosier locations. After much toing and froing, a pen name stuck, but a cruel diagnosis halted plans before pen hit plotting paper. The strain of uncertainty and clashing polar personalities saw our crazy notion pack its bags, ready for dead-end street.
Solid friendship was having none of it and told us so. “Fools! One vision says you have something worth saving. Unpack your proposal and get back to drafting. A book won’t write itself.”
Soon, our aim was a reality. Starring Jon Windup and Wendy May, unlikely friends turned amateur sleuths, The Windy & Darling Cosy Mysteries are brimful of majesty, mayhem, mischief, and murder. Stacked with offbeat characters, idyllic locations, enticing clues, and topical themes, we aim to write typically British, quaint, and indelibly winsome page-turners. Lighthearted, warm, playful, and humorous, our stories define the true essence of cosy crime.
From picture-postcard locations to ancient woodland and quaint cafes for a scrumptious afternoon tea, we invite you, the reader, to join our sparring amateur sleuths in their hunt for villainous villains and an unquestionable quest for justice in all they do.

Our feature-length debut, Deadly Dough, and follow-up, Fatal Fungus, are available on Amazon. The next book in the series, Horrid Herbs, will launch in 2025. Set in fabulous Old Farrow, the story greets old and new characters and serves up more complex crimes to tickle, tempt, and twist our sparring snoops.
After many obstacles threatened to thwart our plan, it’s fair to say Wenark Green’s got it going on. One vision, one goal, and a foolproof friendship proved loyal.
Thanks for reading the robust ramblings of two offbeat inkslingers. To be part of Wenark’s capers, follow our socials and/or dip into our blog and latest news to join our wacky adventures in a whimsical world.

Wenark Green, Author
Unlikely friends writing topical and tickling cosy mysteries.
Fluff at a premium.

Creativity’s a must for English-born, Scottish-raised, environmental science graduate Mark, who co-manages a self-publishing house and is formidable at book formatting and proofreading. He also writes cosy crime and sci-fi, makes electronic music, dabbles in baking, and fancies himself as a modern-day Gerardus Mercator, cartographer, and geographer.
A self-confessed geek and sweet-tooth, Mark’s hopelessly devoted to maps and roads, and his fondness for tree-hugging or pondering pylons takes whimsical to a new level. He even has a favourite pylon pal he calls Dave. High on his priorities are reading, laughter, healthy food, and nature bathing.
Mark adores animals, especially cats. Just ask Tahlula, the fussy old tuxedo puss he’s slave to.
When a cruel MS plot twist halted novel ideas for too long left unwritten, the shocking diagnosis found Wendy’s writer’s voice, but not before the reality of brain fog and defunct limbs pitched her into deep depression. Shunning morbid thoughts of a doomed future, Wendy swapped wallowing for blue-sky thinking, accepted her condition as her raison d’être, changed her lifestyle, and nurtured her vision to publish.
Born in the original Washington, NE England, Wendy believes her insane passion for words and every nuance of the English language hijacked her in the womb when breathing in her late mother. Cosseted by luscious literature, she now co-owns a self-publishing house, ensuring her lust for all things alphabetical/grammatical never wanes.

When not editing, mentoring, critiquing, or narrating, Wendy writes cosy mysteries, and psychological thrillers. Her other passions include music, cooking, yoga, and comedy. Animal quackers, a devoted hat fiend (110 at the last count) and a proud nature buff, Wendy’s also a sworn bookworm. She reads a medley of genres, devours dictionaries, and adds a wondrous new word to her repertoire every day.
